A 2022 crossover pharmacokinetic study in healthy volunteers found that co-administering atorvastatin and omega-3 changed each other's blood levels: atorvastatin's active metabolite 2-OH-atorvastatin increased by about 18.5%, while omega-3 absorption (DHA and EPA) decreased substantially. The study states: "The 90% CIs for most primary endpoints were outside the range of typical bioequivalence, indicating a pharmacokinetic interaction between atorvastatin and omega-3."
