Supplement

What it is

Creatine is an amino acid produced by the body and a popular dietary supplement. Research suggests it may somewhat enhance the effects of exercise on strength, muscle mass, and endurance. NCCIH notes possible reports of impaired liver or kidney function and compartment syndrome with creatine use, and that its safety in children and teens hasn't been established.
